Welcome to LKPS Consultancy Page
One of the specialist services offered by LKPS is Aquatic and Pond Consultancy.
Maintaining the correct water chemistry is the first step in ensuring that your pond is a safe and happy environment for all of its inhabitants.
The management of fish in a general garden pond is relatively simple. Typically problems will only arise when water quality becomes poor or disease is introduced.
The management of a Koi pond however necessitates a very thorough understanding of water chemistry, fish biology and a keen eye for spotting parasitic and bacterial problems at an early stage before disaster can occur. The dedicated hobbiest must become a guardian of water quality first and foremost.
Having had some costly and frankly upsetting experiences in his early days of Koi keeping Simon witnessed first hand the lack of experienced specialist input often needed to diagnose the real issues at times of crisis. Now totally gripped by the Koi keeping bug, Simon made a concerted effort to educate himself on all aspects of water quality and fish biology to find out not only what Koi needed to survive……. but to flourish. Today Simon is a fully qualified by OATA having successfully completed the certified courses in Fish Biology, Water Quality, Filtration and Fish Health.

FINALLY A WORD OF CAUTION: Koi do not flick, flash, rub or jump for no reason! This is generally an early indication of poor water quality OR parasitic activity typically followed by bacterial infections, wounds and ulcerations. Fish hanging, clamped or being generally lethargic tend to be signs of advanced problems. Early identification of the problem can often be the difference between life and death. Please be vigilant.
