FEEDING .. When the water temperature is consistently below 5 degrees C, discontinue feeding. Once the water temperature is consistently above 5 degrees C but below 16 degrees C feed once daily. Between 16 degrees C and 22 degrees C feed twice daily, during the warmest part of the day. When the water temperature is consistently above 22 degrees C feed 2 to 4 times daily. Higher temperatures promote more activity, which requires more food. Avoid feeding more than your koi will eat within 5 to 10 minutes and always remove any uneaten food after the feeding period. During any appetite loss, after sickness or during medicating, your koi’s eating habits may be significantly reduced, careful monitoring of feeding is required.
